Job summary

Autonomy Finance is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the core infrastructure team in New York. You will design and build APIs powering our AI-driven financial platform and own critical systems handling sensitive data with autonomy to drive architectural improvements.

Responsibilities include creating scalable APIs, building high-throughput microservices, and collaborating with ML engineers to deploy AI models. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with an in-office presence in NYC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and async programming.
• Experience with FastAPI, Django, or similar frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Architect microservices that handle high-throughput financial transactions.
• Implement secure integrations with banking and brokerage APIs.
• Optimize database performance and design efficient data models.
• Build real-time event-driven systems for AI agent orchestration.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy and serve AI models.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical systems.
