Autopilot is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer in New York for an onsite role. You will build scalable backend systems powering a trading platform, integrate with major brokerages, and work closely with founders and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

5-7+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in a startup environment.
Proficiency in TypeScript for backend development.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud infrastructure.
Expertise in distributed systems, API integration, and cloud-hosted applications.
Proven track record of building and scaling backend systems to support growth.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain robust backend systems powering the trading platform and broker integrations.
Lead the development of the pilot portal for data input, persistence, and broker integration.
Reverse-engineer undocumented APIs and implement distributed systems that scale as we grow.
Collaborate with frontend, product, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Drive hands-on impact as a core contributor in a fast-paced, innovative company.
