Job summary

Spotify’s Distribution API team builds core infrastructure powering creator content across Spotify and beyond. You’ll design and scale backend systems, lead cross-functional initiatives, and help evolve platform architecture to support new formats and wider distribution.

You’ll work with Java, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), and databases like MySQL, while leveraging AI-powered tools in daily workflows. Role based in New York or Los Angeles with flexible hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Professional experience building backend systems with strong Java
• Familiarity with JavaScript or Ruby on Rails is a plus
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and MySQL
• Understanding of platform and distributed systems; experience building scalable APIs/services
• Full stack experience is a plus
• Comfortable using AI-powered developer tools like Claude in development workflow

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve backend systems at massive scale

• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives from design to delivery
