Job summary

Spotify is seeking an Engineer II to build scalable backend services powering episode and podcast management, with opportunities to contribute to frontend in React and TypeScript. The role collaborates with product, design, and other engineers to deliver integrated experiences for creators and listeners worldwide.

You will design and evolve APIs and services that connect user experiences with scalable internal infrastructure, while driving performance improvements and maintaining high code

Qualifications

• Experience building production backend systems with Java, Ruby on Rails, or similar.
• Experience with React and TypeScript or willingness to grow frontend skills.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, service APIs, storage design, and observability.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; growth mindset and collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering episode and podcast workflows.
• Contribute to frontend surfaces using React and TypeScript.
• Develop APIs and services connecting user experiences with internal infrastructure.
• Improve system performance and developer experience across the stack.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineers across teams to align requirements.
• Participate in RFCs and platform decisions; uphold code quality and ops practices.
• Foster culture of experimentation, ownership, and continuous learning.
