Job summary

Spotify is seeking a talented Backend engineer to join our Advertising Product & Technology team in North America. You will design scalable backend services, data pipelines, and APIs powering ad experiences for hundreds of millions of fans and advertisers.

You’ll collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers to build and maintain complex data pipelines, emphasize testing and CI, and contribute to high-impact projects on a distributed systems stack.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend experience in a professional setting.
• Proficient in Java; willing to expand to Scala.
• Experience building scalable backend services and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems and APIs using Java services.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists/Engineers to build data pipelines (Scio, Storm, Spark, GCP).
• Develop expertise in testing practices, including TDD and integration testing.
• Ensure high-quality code through automated testing and CI.
• Lead high-performance Java service development for millions of users.
• Partner with Data Scientists and User Researchers to inform product decisions.
