Affirm is a remote-first company redefining credit in the U.S. We are seeking an engineer to own backend systems, deliver quarterly goals, and guide teammates through ambiguity while maintaining reliability and scalability.

You will collaborate with product, design, and analytics to articulate constraints, develop elegant designs, and keep services highly available. Required: 4+ years building backend systems in Python or Kotlin; experience with AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivering significant features with an elegant design.
• Strong code ownership and ability to operate in large code bases.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics through ideation and constraint discussion.
• Identify and solve project, process, or technology issues proactively.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts with metrics and on-call efforts.
• Promote code quality standards and teach others through writing and talks.
