Cloudflare for SaaS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate backend services and APIs in Go. You’ll help scale the control plane for tens of millions of customer domains, improving certificate lifecycle workflows and domain management across Cloudflare’s global network.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, observability, and production reliability, with a focus on collaboration with product managers and engineers to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building backend systems at a technology company.
• Production-quality Go or other language experience.
• Designing, building and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Strong debugging and Unix/Linux proficiency.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable backend services and APIs for managing customer domains and their configuration.
• Evolve the control plane to support tens of millions of customer domains without sacrificing correctness, availability, or API performance.
• Improve certificate and domain lifecycle workflows: onboarding, validation, renewal, migration, and safe deletion.
• Model ownership and shared state carefully for consistency across distributed services and stores.
• Build observability, alerts, and operational procedures; participate in debugging and incident response.
• Collaborate across engineering and product teams; document designs and review peers' work.
