Flexcompute is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable backend services for our EM simulation platform, Flow360 and Tidy3D. You will contribute to API unification, data management, and hybrid cloud integration, working with HPC systems and modern cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate has strong Java/Python/C++ backend experience, solid AWS knowledge, and hands-on containerization with Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or computer engineering; postgraduate degree or strong research/competitions is a plus.
• Professional experience developing backend systems using Java, Python, and/or C++.
• Strong experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms (compute, storage, networking, IAM, infra automation).
• Expertise in backend service development and web API architecture.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems in production environments.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge and infrastructure troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, observability tooling.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and backend security best practices.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to API unification and data management for large-scale simulations.
• Collaborate with EM and infra teams to improve back-end integrations and Python frontend tooling.
• Design scalable web APIs for job orchestration in multi-physical simulations.
• Develop hybrid cloud compute and storage solutions with on-prem HPC and cloud platforms.
• Optimize HPC clusters with high-speed interconnects.
