Job summary

Remotebase is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own production operations, build scalable APIs, and ensure reliability of our SaaS platform. You’ll work with TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js server components, PostgreSQL, Prisma, and cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Run.

You’ll lead incident response, plan migrations, mentor teammates, and keep runbooks and architecture docs up to date. This is a fully remote role with flexible hours and market-competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years backend engineering experience.
• Strong production experience with TS/Node.js/PostgreSQL and API design.
• Experience operating a SaaS app, diagnosing incidents, reliability focus.
• Sound judgment on transactions, concurrency, migrations, data recovery.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, multi-tenant data security.
• Familiarity with GCP or similar managed cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Own production application operations, including health checks and performance.
• Build and maintain APIs, shared logic, and queries in the monorepo.
• Plan migrations, investigate data integrity issues, develop recovery procedures.
• Maintain integrations for payments, email, storage, AI, and e-signatures.
• Enforce permissions and audit coverage for privileged actions.
• Lead incident diagnosis with DevOps for recovery and readiness.
• Write tests and review code; mentor other engineers.
• Keep runbooks and architecture docs up to date.
