Hungryroot is hiring a Senior Engineer to drive backend design, implement REST APIs, and ensure robust data models and performance. You will mentor teammates, work with engineering leads on large projects, and raise the bar for code quality through reviews and testing.

This is a remote-friendly role within the US with strong ownership and collaboration. Join a distributed team across 28+ states, with a New York City HQ and an emphasis on flexible, accountable work.

Qualifications

• 5+ yrs of commercial software development experience.
• 3+ yrs Python and related ecosystem as daily driver.
• 3+ yrs designing and extending RESTful APIs.
• 3+ yrs with Django/Flask/Rails web frameworks.
• 2+ yrs relational SQL experience.
• 2+ yrs troubleshooting production issues.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering infrastructure concepts and the system that ties services together.
• Drive technical discussions and help team reach the best solution.
• Collaborate with engineering leads on planning and executing large projects.
• Contribute to feature development, maintenance and quality.
• Improve code quality through reviews, testing and refactoring.
• Participate in interviewing senior, mid, and junior engineers.
