Job summary

Wonder, a Boston-based robotics and kitchen automation company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the backend team to build the brains of automated restaurants and the foundation for robotic systems.

You will work with Elixir and the Phoenix framework to create real-time distributed services that connect cloud infrastructure with on-site hardware, while mentoring peers and guiding feature design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building highly concurrent, distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Experience designing, building, and consuming WebSocket events, REST APIs, webhooks, and other message-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement distributed systems that power automated restaurant backends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy high-impact features.
• Mentor other engineers and guide technical discussions.
• Maintain reliability and performance of live production systems.
