Job summary

Wonder is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Back End) to build the brains of our automated restaurants. You will design real-time distributed systems using Elixir and Phoenix, connecting cloud services with on-site robotics and frontend apps.

You will mentor engineers, own end-to-end features, and help scale production systems across multiple distributed components. The Boston office will be your primary base.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building highly concurrent, distributed systems.
• Strong system design skills with a product-focused mindset.
• Proficiency in Elixir and the Phoenix framework with PostgreSQL experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend features for real-time distributed systems.
• Bridge cloud-based infrastructure with on-site robotics and hardware.
• Maintain reliability, code quality, and release processes.
• Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams for feature delivery.
• Improve processes through automation and best-practice adoption.
