Job summary

BluJuniper is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and implement distributed Go services powering AI workloads. You will own architecture, APIs, data models, and security boundaries across real-time data flows, WebRTC media, and Kafka-based event streams.

You’ll collaborate with AI/ML, computer vision, and navigation teams, shipping production-grade systems with low latency, strong observability, and robust fault tolerance in a hybrid Washington, DC environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering, backend or distributed systems.
• Strong production experience with Go.
• Experience designing and operating distributed services in production.
• Understand concurrency, networking, APIs, fault tolerance.
• Experience with relational databases and production data access.
• Experience designing authentication and authorization systems (RBAC).
• Experience deploying cloud-based systems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong debugging and performance-analysis skills.
• Experience with automated testing and code review.
• Ability to explain architecture and tradeoffs clearly.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production backend services in Go.
• Architect distributed systems for reliability, scalability, latency, observability, and security.
• Define APIs, service boundaries, event flows.
• Build event-driven systems using Kafka.
• Develop real-time communication infrastructure with WebRTC/LiveKit.
• Design data models and persistence patterns.
• Build authentication/authorization systems (RBAC).
• Integrate with AI/ML and other systems.
• Diagnose production issues related to performance and distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers and improve practices.
