Job summary

Taktile is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical data infrastructure powering our feature computation platform. You will build and operate Python services on AWS, drive latency and reliability improvements, and shape architecture with real ownership.

You’ll collaborate with Product and Design, mentor teammates, and benefit from a flat hierarchy, equity, and a strong self-development budget. Relocation is not provided.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading complex projects in a senior capacity (2+ years).
• Deep expertise in Python and building backend systems on cloud platforms (we use AWS).
• Strong system design skills — comfortable making architectural trade-offs and defending them.
• Depth in at least one: data pipelines/storage, event-driven architectures, caching/performance, or serverless systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model from Berlin HQ, London office, or Iași hub; relocation not provided.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate backend services in Python on AWS — Lambda functions, DynamoDB, Aurora, and event-driven pipelines handling real traffic.
• Tackle latency, reliability, and scale challenges.
• Own systems end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Make key architectural decisions with ownership over design choices.
• Raise the bar through code reviews, mentoring, and improving development tooling and processes.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to shape future work.
