Job summary

Luxoft Germany is seeking a Backend Developer to build scalable, cloud-native Python APIs for a major US insurer. You will own services end-to-end—from development to deployment on AKS—while ensuring observability, reliability and secure coding practices.

The role combines traditional backend engineering with GenAI integration, exposing enterprise capabilities to AI agents and LLM-based apps. Strong Python, FastAPI, and Azure skills required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Production REST APIs with FastAPI, async programming and API versioning.
• Experience with MCP servers or willingness to ramp up quickly.
• Hands-on Azure experience: AKS, Cosmos DB and Redis.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience; familiarity with Helm is a plus.
• CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions; observability tooling and tracing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable REST APIs and backend services in Python with FastAPI.
• Build MCP servers using FastMCP to expose data to AI agents and LLM apps.
• Model data for Azure Cosmos DB with partitioning and throughput considerations.
• Implement caching with Azure Cache for Redis to improve performance.
• Containerize services with Docker and deploy on AKS; manage CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement monitoring with Azure Monitor, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Own the full service lifecycle and ensure secure coding practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, frontend engineers and QA.
