You will work across backend, infrastructure, DevOps, and reliability, collaborating with product teams and customers to build robust API services and Web3 integration. The team leverages AI-assisted development tools for daily engineering tasks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience designing distributed backend systems.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
• Strong experience with Python 3.
• Hands-on experience with AWS.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong database experience with PostgreSQL/SQL; NoSQL experience is valuable.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a highly experienced, fully remote backend team at a crypto wallet and Web3 API company. The team builds and operates the backend systems powering customer-facing products and APIs at significant scale, handling around 1 billion requests per month.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys distributed systems, high ownership, system design, and solving complex technical problems. You will work across backend development, infrastructure, DevOps, monitoring, and reliability while collaborating closely with product teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable distributed backend systems.
• Own backend services end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and long-term reliability.
• Work with product and engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into well-designed technical solutions.
• Collaborate directly with customers building on the API, understanding their needs and translating them into scalable solutions.
• Build and evolve Web3 backend infrastructure, including blockchain integrations and smart contract interactions.
• Ensure high standards of performance, security, code quality, and observability.
• Contribute to DevOps and infrastructure activities, taking ownership beyond traditional development responsibilities.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily engineering workflow for designing, coding, reviewing, debugging, and shipping software.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and mentorship.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience designing and building distributed backend systems.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
• Strong experience with Python 3.
• Hands-on experience with AWS.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong database experience with PostgreSQL/SQL; experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra is valuable.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Proven ability to take ownership of problems and drive solutions from definition through production.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments and contributing to product decisions.
• Comfortable communicating directly with customers and translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Practical experience using AI tools in daily software engineering, with an understanding of both their benefits and limitations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team.
