Job summary

Matternet Inc. in Mountain View is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the platform team that builds and runs the backend, data, and infrastructure services behind Matternet's delivery network.

You will own significant services from design through deployment and operation in a safety-critical environment. The role focuses on Node.js/TypeScript services, GraphQL APIs, data pipelines, and tooling to keep the fleet running.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong backend proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript.
• Solid grounding in API design (GraphQL and/or REST).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD.
• Reliability, monitoring, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver backend services and APIs for delivery operations and partner integrations.
• Build and extend data pipelines ingesting flight, vehicle, and telemetry data.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of live operations.
• Drive software verification, deployment, and observability across production systems.
• Provide technical support and triage production and field issues.
• Collaborate with onboard software, operations, product, and safety teams.
