Job summary

Tillster is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Back End to own and evolve the payment-terminal platform behind our kiosks. This hybrid role requires hands-on work with 40+ integrations and a path to a modular, pluggable SDK architecture.

You will lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and ensure secure, compliant payment flows (PCI-DSS) across integrated and cloud processors while delivering robust end-to-end payment capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years backend engineering with Java and Spring.
• Experience designing extensible plugin/SPI architectures.
• Hands-on low-level device/protocol experience: serial/USB, TLV, binary protocols.
• Direct payment-terminal/POS integration experience.
• Knowledge of PCI-DSS boundaries, tokenization, TLS/mTLS.

Responsibilities

• Own payments domain end-to-end on the kiosk platform.
• Architect pluggable payment SDK and plugin contract.
• Design terminal abstraction across integrated/semi-integrated/cloud processors.
• Build integration test and certification harness for new integrations.
• Set platform-wide patterns for money movement: idempotency, reconciliation.
• Lead architecture reviews and mentor engineers.
