Job summary

7Seventy is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to architect and build complex production systems powering payments, fraud detection, compliance, and user management. You will lead cross-domain backend architecture, distributed microservices, and influence platform decisions.

You will apply deep systems engineering with Python, APIs, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud infrastructure, mentoring teams and enforcing standards while partnering with product and compliance stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with complex production systems.
• 3+ years of technical leadership including mentoring and cross-team coordination.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures and microservices.
• Strong fundamentals in CS, algorithms and data structures.
• Backend development with Python, APIs, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement financial systems for payments, fraud, and compliance.
• Architect cross-domain solutions coordinating payments, fraud, user management, and compliance.
• Lead architecture decisions and set engineering best practices.
• Mentor engineers and establish coding standards and patterns.
• Improve reliability and performance across a distributed microservices landscape.
• Collaborate with product and compliance to meet business and regulatory needs.
