Job summary

Keeper Security, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead backend development for Discovery in KeeperPAM. This 100% remote role offers a hybrid option for candidates in the Chicago, IL or El Dorado Hills, CA areas.

The role centers on building Python-based discovery services and cloud backend components to identify privileged identities and assets across directories and cloud IAM. You will contribute to secure, scalable data pipelines in a zero-knowledge architecture.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend systems.
• Strong Python experience with Python as the primary language for the Discovery engine.
• Working proficiency in Java or Kotlin for backend services, plus comfort with TypeScript/React for admin UI.
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs and data-processing pipelines that run in uncontrolled environments.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory and/or LDAP.
• Knowledge of cloud IAM models (AWS IAM, Entra ID, or GCP IAM).
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• GovCloud/FedRAMP exposure is a plus, U.S. Person status required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the Python discovery engine on customer gateways and Java/Kotlin cloud services.
• Build systems to discover privileged accounts, service accounts, keys, machines across AD, cloud IAM, databases, endpoints.
• Solve identity correlation and reconciliation challenges across multiple systems.
• Develop re-scan and state-reconciliation to avoid duplicates or stale data.
• Create tests, logging and diagnostics to enable trust in field code without direct debugging.
• Design workflows that respect API limits and partial failures in large environments.
• Develop data-processing workflows within Keeper’s zero-knowledge architecture.
• Collaborate with Product/QA and PAM engineers on design, testing and delivery.
• Use AI-assisted tools to support development and documentation.
