Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Backend Developer Level 3 in the United States to design and operate high-scale backend systems. You’ll work with Node.js and TypeScript, building distributed services in a cloud-native Azure environment with AKS, Service Bus, and Cosmos DB.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend applications.
• Strong and recent production experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming patterns and runtime performance considerations.
• Proven experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems and microservice architectures in production.
• Hands-on experience developing and operating asynchronous, message-based systems with idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling, and consumer lag.
• Strong experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and working with NoSQL databases, including partitioning strategies and consistency tradeoffs.
• Strong and recent hands-on experience developing and operating production applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Ability to investigate and resolve production issues using telemetry (logs, metrics, traces, APM).
• Strong understanding of reliability, observability, and scalable system design.
• Excellent communication across teams; prior technical leadership is a plus.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or comparable platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Design and evolve large-scale distributed systems and microservices supporting business workflows.
• Build cloud-native apps on Microsoft Azure using AKS, Functions, Service Bus, and Cosmos DB.
• Develop event-driven services and asynchronous pipelines with proper handling of idempotency, retries, and message ordering.
• Create high-performance REST APIs for customer- and partner-facing apps and integrate with cross-team systems.
• Diagnose production performance and reliability issues using telemetry, not just local tests.
• Improve observability, scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency of backend systems.
• Contribute to design reviews and architecture decisions; take ownership of technical initiatives.
• Support cross-functional engineering activities and provide technical leadership when needed.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, Mobile, Frontend, and other teams to deliver effective APIs and services.
• Champion testing, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and production readiness; explore AI-assisted tooling.
