Job summary

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for Mimir Query and databases to join our remote-first team. You’ll contribute to the Mimir OSS project and Grafana Cloud metrics across multiple cloud providers, focusing on reliability, performance, and scalability in large distributed systems.

You’ll work in a fully remote setup with on-call rotations and collaboration across global teams, using Go as a primary language and leveraging Kubernetes in production.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go preferred).
• Experience leading and delivering projects from idea to production.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud-native environments.

• Take an active role in influencing the roadmap and your career objectives.
• Deliver new features with the team and iterate based on results.
• Drive projects from initial idea to customer-facing operations.
• Contribute to open-source projects beyond your team’s scope.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems for reliability and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations and own the services you run.
• Collaborate with teammates and participate in design discussions.
• Learn about Grafana Cloud and understand the codebase of a large distributed system.
