Pave is building the market's leading real-time compensation platform. We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to own scalable systems for our most sophisticated customers, partner with stakeholders, and drive end-to-end lifecycle ownership from discovery to post-release monitoring.

You will set technical direction, mentor teammates, and craft robust architectures in a fast-paced environment, shaping how pay decisions land across organizations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong eye for performance, reliability, and robust systems design.
• Empathy for compensation teams and understanding pricing challenges.
• Strong judgement when operating in the unknown; weigh tradeoffs carefully.
• Proven ability to break ambiguous problems into milestones with clear metrics and deliver.

Responsibilities

• Propose and implement scalable systems for our most sophisticated customers.
• Partner with stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into shipped, enterprise-ready features.
• Own all phases of the development lifecycle from customer conversation to post-release monitoring.
• Set technical direction across projects, mentor engineers, and raise the bar in how the team builds.
