Job summary

Horizon3.ai is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Licensing, Usage & Entitlements team. You will build services determining customer purchases, enabled capabilities, and usage limits, collaborating with Product and adjacent teams.

You’ll own features end-to-end, emphasize correctness, and ensure reliable production operation. The role requires 7+ years of backend experience and strong API/data modeling skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend software.
• Experience with modern backend languages such as Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing APIs and data models for business-critical services.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, including data integrity and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with cloud-hosted services and containerized apps (Docker); familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Strong testing, observability, and ownership of production services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain services and APIs representing customer purchases, packaging, and usage limits.
• Own features from design through implementation, testing, rollout, and production operation.
• Build and evolve entitlement and usage workflows across direct and MSP/MSPP models.
• Partner with Product to define interfaces and resolve licensing edge cases.
• Improve tests, runbooks, and production documentation for critical services.
• Investigate production issues and implement durable fixes.
• Review code and share context with other engineers.
