Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (Java/Spring) to design, build, and secure enterprise Java services for transfer agency and fixed income processing workflows. You will work with architects, analysts, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver reliable backend capabilities.

The role is remote in the United States with flexible work arrangements and a focus on high-volume processing, secure SDLC practices, and regulatory auditability.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of enterprise backend development experience.
• Strong expertise with Java 17 or later, Spring Boot, Spring Security, OAuth2, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL, Hibernate, and stored procedures.
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub or Bitbucket, Swagger/OpenAPI, Azure-based deployment patterns, unit testing, and API testing.
• Proficiency with JasperReports, Quartz, SOAP, Apache CXF, JMeter, Dynatrace, Log4j, and secure SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java and Spring-based services supporting transfer registration, shareholder and account records.
• Design and maintain REST APIs, service orchestration, batch and scheduled processing, database interactions.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, input validation, secrets handling, encryption-aware integrations.
• Ensure transactional integrity, regulatory auditability, and resilient service design across high-volume processing workflows.
• Partner with architects, analysts, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver reliable backend capabilities.
