Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Sr. Backend Developer (Java/Spring) to design, build, secure, and maintain enterprise backend services for transfer agency and fixed income platforms.

You will work with architects, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver reliable, scalable APIs and batch processing. Requirements include 8+ years of backend experience, Java 17+, Spring Boot/Spring Security, OAuth2, Oracle SQL, and CI/CD, with a focus on secure SDLC and high-volume workflows.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of enterprise backend development experience.
• Strong expertise with Java 17 or later, Spring Boot, Spring Security, OAuth2, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle SQL, Hibernate, and stored procedures.
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub or Bitbucket, Swagger/OpenAPI, Azure-based deployment patterns, unit testing, and API testing.
• Proficiency with JasperReports, Quartz, SOAP, Apache CXF, JMeter, Dynatrace, Log4j, and secure SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java and Spring-based services supporting transfer registration, shareholder and account records, fixed income events, income and principal processing, corporate action workflows, reporting, and reconciliation support.
• Design and maintain REST APIs, service orchestration, batch and scheduled processing, database interactions, data validation, exception handling, and audit logging.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, input validation, secrets handling, encryption-aware integrations, and vulnerability remediation aligned with FedRAMP High expectations.
• Ensure transactional integrity, regulatory auditability, and resilient service design across high-volume processing workflows.
• Partner with architects, analysts, QA, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver reliable, testable, and supportable backend capabilities.
