Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java and Spring Boot applications. You will build RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures with Kafka, while ensuring security and performance in a cloud-native environment.

You will lead technical design discussions, collaborate across teams, and contribute to DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automated testing to deliver reliable software at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot backend development.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices for high-volume business applications.
• Provide technical leadership across the SDLC and DevOps practices.
• Develop with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security.
• Design event-driven architectures using Kafka and messaging platforms.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases for efficient data access.
• Apply secure development practices for authentication, authorization, and API security.
• Create unit and automated tests with JUnit and Mockito; support CI/CD, containers, and cloud-native development.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot or similar GenAI tools following secure development practices.
• Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers; participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
