Job summary

MAS Global Consulting is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team on-site in Plano, TX. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java, Kafka, and AWS, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.

You will own API design, implement event-driven architectures, ensure security and reliability, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 8+ years of backend experience.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems.
• Experience with Git and Agile methodologies.
• Hands-on Java, Kafka, and AWS expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java.
• Architect event-driven solutions with Apache Kafka.
• Deploy and manage AWS infrastructure and services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Develop and optimize RESTful APIs for performance and reliability.
• Write automated tests and perform code reviews to ensure quality.
• Apply security best practices (authN/authZ) to backend systems.
• Troubleshoot production issues to minimize downtime.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and QA teams for seamless delivery.
