Job summary

Procore Technologies is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Financial Platform and Insights Division. You’ll own critical backend initiatives, scale resilient services, and drive AI-enabled solutions for a global customer base.

You’ll partner with PMs, architects, and leadership to design scalable services using Java and Ruby, leverage Kafka and PostgreSQL, and contribute to a modern service-oriented architecture. The role is hybrid with 2 days/week in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience in Java.
• Experience designing event-driven distributed systems with Kafka.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL including indexing and query design.
• Experience integrating AI technologies into development workflows.
• Strong understanding of microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and scale distributed backend services using Java and Ruby.
• Design, implement, and maintain high-throughput data streams and message queues using Apache Kafka.
• Optimize PostgreSQL databases through indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
• Develop and integrate intelligent backend features and workflows leveraging modern AI technologies.
• Build and maintain interactive, high-performing frontend components using React.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product, design, and architecture teams to drive a modern service-oriented architecture.
• Drive full operational ownership of production services, including deployment, observability, monitoring, and distributed tracing.
• Write robust, well-tested code following Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles to ensure system reliability.
