First Orion is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, build, deploy, and own core microservices in a cloud-agnostic, multi-tenant environment. The role emphasizes backend architecture using hexagonal patterns and event-driven processing with Kafka.

You will work across regions, contributing to services for call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing, with a focus on secure, observable, carrier-grade solutions.

Qualifikationen

• 3+ years of professional Java development with Java 11+ (Java 17/21 preferred).
• Hands-on Spring Boot 3.x (Web, Data JPA, Security).
• Experience designing REST APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and/or Redis.
• Git experience; Bitbucket preferred.
• Foundational Docker and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Understanding microservice architecture and modern backend design.
• Experience building, testing, deploying, and supporting production services.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a distributed environment.
• Experience with Gradle Kotlin DSL.
• Experience with OIDC or similar IAM standards.
• Telecoms or carrier integration exposure.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Experience with hexagonal/ports-and-adapters/clean architecture.
• Experience creating/maintaining Helm charts.
• Experience with monitoring, tracing, and logging.

Aufgaben

• Design, build, and own Java 21 Spring Boot microservices.
• Develop REST APIs supporting call orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing.
• Apply hexagonal architecture to separate business logic from infrastructure.
• Build event-driven services with Kafka for streaming and async processing.
• Work with PostgreSQL, Redis, and S3-compatible storage (MinIO).
• Design cloud-agnostic, multi-tenant services for public cloud and on-prem deployments.
• Containerize and deploy with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement secure integrations with IAM, secrets management, and transport security.
• Build observable services with monitoring, logging, dashboards, and tracing.
• Contribute to CI/CD, design decisions, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Collaborate across distributed teams to deliver reliable carrier-grade solutions.
