Job summary

Verkada is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to help scale our Device Platform. You will design and ship core platform features that connect Verkada’s cloud with hardware devices, ensuring low latency and high uptime for millions of devices worldwide.

You will lead cross-team efforts, mentor teammates, and drive operational improvements. This full-time, onsite role requires strong design and communication skills and a commitment to reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python or Go (or similar languages).
• Ability to design scalable backend systems with low latency and high uptime.

Responsibilities

• Architect and ship major platform features end-to-end (IoT core, device-metrics, licensing ledger).
• Design and lead platform features to scale with reliability and performance.
• Lead operational improvements to increase robustness and reduce pager noise.
• Teach through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with other teams to align the platform roadmap with company strategy.
