Job summary

Prenuvo in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer II for the eCommerce team. You will design and scale APIs powering checkout, payments, scheduling, and customer accounts with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, contributing to platform reliability and growth.

You will collaborate with Product and Design, mentor engineers, and own features end-to-end. Note: this role does not provide visa sponsorship; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience with Python.
• Strong experience building REST APIs with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience building distributed systems and integrating with external APIs.
• Hands-on with AWS and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong testing with pytest and reliable automated test suites.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend services powering the online booking experience.
• Design and maintain APIs for checkout, payments, scheduling, accounts, and orders.
• Integrate with Stripe, CommerceTools, Salesforce, Voucherify, and other systems.
• Design resilient distributed systems with observability and monitoring (Datadog).
• Optimize performance and reliability for high-volume workloads.
• Write automated tests and promote quality culture.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams on features.
• Mentor engineers, participate in architecture discussions, drive technical direction.
