Uber is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer on the Deliverability team to design scalable API services and orchestrate high-throughput, low-latency systems across the order workflow. You will shape caching, observability, and reliability while aligning with product and engineering partners.

This role involves building extensible APIs, leading multi-service orchestration, and driving performance with robust state management and telemetry.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional full-time software engineering experience building scalable backend platforms.
• Strong proficiency in modern backend languages, preferably Go, Java, C++, or Python.
• Deep understanding of high-throughput, low-latency microservice architectures, RESTful APIs, and gRPC/Protobuf protocols.
• Hands-on expertise with advanced caching mechanisms, concurrency control, and distributed state management.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end, extensible core platform APIs.
• Orchestrate high-throughput systems with multi-tier service dependencies.
• Drive low-latency performance through multi-layered caching strategies.
• Champion observability and reliability with metrics, dashboards, and alerts.
• Lead cross-functional alignment with product managers and engineering teams.
