Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Deliverability team. You will architect extensible APIs, design high-throughput, low-latency backend services, and drive robust caching and observability across millions of orders.

You will partner with product managers and engineering teams to set technical standards, ensure reliable API contracts, and deliver multi-phase roadmaps. In-office presence is expected, with some remote flexibility for eligible roles.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend software engineering experience building scalable platforms.
• Strong proficiency in backend languages: Go, Java, C++, or Python.
• Deep understanding of high-throughput, low-latency microservice architectures, RESTful APIs, and gRPC/Protobuf.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end core platform services and extensible APIs.
• Orchestrate high-throughput systems with multi-tier downstream dependencies.
• Drive low-latency performance through multi-layered caching and efficient design.
• Champion observability and reliability with metrics, dashboards, and alerts.
• Lead cross-functional alignment with product and engineering teams.
