Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Economy Platform team. You will design, implement, and operate scalable, fault-tolerant systems that govern the Roblox economy across global users.

You will shape backend architecture for an international marketplace, enabling creators to succeed while maintaining performance at scale. The role emphasizes building reliable services, leading technical discussions, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development with distributed systems focus.
• Strong understanding of CAP theorem and fault tolerance in distributed environments.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in one or more languages such as C#, Go, Rust, Java, C++, Python.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, reliable distributed systems and microservices.
• Implement high-quality, testable backend code with unit/integration tests.
• Develop backend systems for efficient service operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in distributed systems.
• Improve performance, latency, and throughput.
• Collaborate with product, research, and other engineering teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews and design sessions.
• Advocate for best practices across the software lifecycle.
