Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to own and scale the party system that drives social interaction across servers and immersive experiences. You will contribute to safety-first, high-throughput services handling millions of concurrent users and work across teams to deliver end-to-end features.

You will lead design, architecture, and implementation while partnering with product, design, and other engineering disciplines to improve reliability and velocity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working on microservice architectures with a track record addressing scalability and reliability challenges.
• 3+ years of experience building systems behind consumer-facing APIs handling large numbers of concurrent users.
• Strong understanding of server-side development and design principles; proficiency in at least one compiled language such as C#, C++, Java, Golang, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a cross-functional team including product, design, UXR, frontend and backend engineering.
• Take end-to-end ownership of projects from architecture through launch and measurable impact.
• Maintain, improve and scale the Roblox party system to support millions of concurrent users with a safety-first mindset.
• Partner with other engineering teams to integrate multiple systems in a reusable, performant and safe manner.
