Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience building Python systems and developer tooling.
• Experience designing extensible frameworks, APIs, automation systems, or platforms used by engineers.
• Experience leveraging AI or LLM APIs in engineering workflows or product experiences.
• Ability to independently drive large or ambiguous technical initiatives with business context.
• Strong systems thinking and debugging across distributed/integration-heavy environments.
• Experience boosting engineering velocity and reliability via automation and platform investments.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond your team.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve Python systems powering integrations across Airbyte Data Replication and Airbyte Agents.
• Develop integrations for traditional data movement and AI agent use cases, including searchable context and real-time data access.
• Create AI-enabled tooling to detect, diagnose, and remediate connector failures with minimal intervention.
• Design tooling that enables engineers to build, roll out, and monitor integrations faster and more reliably.
• Drive self-healing infrastructure, intelligent retries, automatic compatibility fixes, and operational resilience.
• Partner with Customer Engineering and Support to eliminate recurring issues through automation and platform improvements.
• Lead ambiguous projects from exploration to production while balancing speed, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical standards across the integrations ecosystem.
