Kalepa seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to own core backend services that ingest billions of unstructured data points and surface insurers with actionable insights. You will build scalable Python-based systems on AWS, design robust APIs, and advance an AI-enabled workflow platform used by leading insurers.

You’ll work with a high-ownership team, mentor peers, and drive architectural decisions while maintaining focus on reliability, explainability, and performance at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scoping, design, and delivery of complex backend systems in Python on AWS.
• Build and scale LLM-based systems that process large volumes of unstructured documents.
• Design external-facing APIs and integrations with third-party systems.
• Own database and query performance as data volume grows; proactively manage technical debt.
• Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback.
• Lead the adoption of best practices for development, testing, and deployment.
