Kalepa is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build reliable backend systems that ingest billions of unstructured data points daily and surface actionable insights for insurers. You will own core services, data models, pipelines, and external APIs powering customer workflows, with ownership and deep technical impact.

You’ll work at the intersection of AI and backend engineering, advancing high-value infrastructure with a team that emphasizes excellence, truth, and customer success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems.
• Strong Python and AWS experience.
• Experience with APIs and external integrations.
• Experience with LLMs in production.
• Experience in insurance/fintech domain preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead scoping, design, and delivery of complex backend systems in Python on AWS.
• Build and scale LLM-based systems processing large volumes of unstructured data.
• Design external-facing APIs and integrations with third-party systems.
• Own database and query performance as data volume grows; manage technical debt.
• Contribute to architectural decisions across the product and mentor others.
