Job summary

Databricks is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the CustomerLake initiative in NYC. You will own enterprise-grade backend features, including permissions, access controls, auditability, and governance, to help large organizations securely adopt and scale our SaaS products.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership across architecture, APIs, data models, and admin tooling, with collaboration across product, security, and infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
• Deep backend engineering with end-to-end ownership across stack.
• Experience with enterprise SaaS or enterprise-focused teams.
• Experience with permissions, access controls, audit logs, governance, or admin tooling.
• Designing scalable backend services, APIs, and data models for complex products.
• Strong understanding of Data, IT, Security, or Platform admin needs.

Responsibilities

• Build enterprise capabilities to securely adopt and scale CustomerLake products.
• Design permissions, roles, and access-control systems for large organizations.
• Develop auditability and governance capabilities for admin visibility.
• Implement pricing, entitlement, usage, and product controls across teams.
• Create scalable backend services, APIs, and data models for admin experiences.
• Translate complex enterprise requirements into intuitive solutions.
• Own projects end to end—from design through production and iteration.
