Job summary

Databricks seeks world-class Software Engineers to join the Public Sector backend teams. You will design, build, and scale distributed systems powering the Data Intelligence Platform, tackling high-scale challenges with zero-waste compute and 100% resilience.

You will work across cloud providers to deliver secure, scalable backend services, with experience in Java/Scala/Go/C++ and a strong background in distributed systems and concurrency.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold TS/SCI clearance (active or reactivatable within the 2-year window).
• Nice to have: Possession of a current polygraph is highly desired and considered a significant plus.
• Technical Breadth: BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience: Staff : 9+ years of professional software development experience.
• Systems Expertise: Deep understanding of Distributed Systems, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Language Proficiency: Strong production-level experience in at least one of: Java, Scala, Go, C++ or similar.
• Cloud Experience: Experience building and deploying large-scale SaaS or cloud-native applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale the distributed systems powering our Data Intelligence Platform.
• Architect scalable backend services to operate across sovereign and air-gapped clouds.
• Improve concurrency, storage, and networking for resilient, high-availability systems.
• Drive performance optimizations and ensure security compliance across backend services.
