Job summary

Deepgram is seeking a Backend Software Engineer on the Engine Team (Voice Agent) to design and implement scalable services for speech processing and AI model orchestration. You will work across telephony integrations, RAG systems, and deployment scenarios, delivering robust backend solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in the field and strong proficiency in Rust (or C/C++) with Python, plus UNIX and Git experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in an industry role.
• Proficiency in Rust (or C, C++), with Python competence.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Improve core inference services including networking, speech processing, model orchestration, and observability.
• Develop integrations with in-house, third-party, and open-source AI models.
• Debug complex system issues with networking, scheduling, and highly concurrent workloads.
• Rapidly customize backend services to support customer needs.
• Partner with Product to design and implement new services end to end.
