Wonder is seeking a product-minded Senior Software Engineer to join our backend team and build the brains of our automated restaurants and robotic systems. You will design and implement real-time distributed systems using Elixir and the Phoenix framework to connect cloud infrastructure with on-site hardware and frontend apps.

This role requires 3+ days in the Boston office (Charlestown, MA). The salary for Boston ranges from $176,000 to $183,500, with geographic variations and final offer based

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building highly concurrent, distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Elixir, including OTP, and the Phoenix framework.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and relational database design.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate complex, distributed state across systems to ensure zero data loss in order fulfillment and robotics communication.
• Bridge cloud and on-prem resources with event-driven architectures, Postgres, WebSocket, and containerized apps.
• Produce high-quality software by maintaining reliability, testing, and monitoring performance.
• Guide technical outcomes by planning features with product requirements and defining tasks.
• Improve processes by introducing best practices and automating repetitive tasks.
• Communicate clearly with specs, documentation, and feedback across teams.
