Metropolis is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer, Edge to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that integrate hardware with ML. You will work across AWS, Java/Scala, gRPC, Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and Kafka to deliver high‑performance services.

This role focuses on distributed systems, real‑time data processing, and scalable infrastructure. You will collaborate with hardware, ML, and operations teams, address bottlenecks, and ensure reliability while delivering

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, software engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of backend development experience.
• Expertise in Java and Scala.
• Experience building gRPC APIs for service communication.
• Strong Redis and MySQL database design/optimization.
• Familiar with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Hands-on Kafka experience for event-driven architectures.
• Strong analytical skills and collaboration across teams.
• Team player with good communication and proactive mindset.
