Actalent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build high-performance C#/.NET backend services running on Linux in a hybrid Southfield, MI environment. You will architect scalable, secure distributed systems powering messaging and IoT workloads, with strong focus on performance, reliability and modern tooling.

The role emphasizes secure architectures, cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP), and collaboration with DevOps to sustain deployment pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend or distributed systems experience.
• Proficient in C# and ASP.NET.
• Experience deploying services on Linux.
• Strong TCP/IP networking knowledge.
• Experience with Kafka/MQTT/RabbitMQ.
• Cloud deployment experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiar with Git-based CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to design scalable, maintainable architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high performance backend services in C#/.NET running on Linux.
• Architect scalable service-oriented systems for high throughput messaging and distributed workloads.
• Build robust networked services using modern patterns and protocols.
• Develop and maintain systems with distributed messaging (Kafka/MQTT/RabbitMQ).
• Implement secure architectures with authentication, encryption and secure comms.
• Design for high availability, scalability, observability, and fault tolerance.
• Optimize performance with async programming and concurrency control.
• Develop and maintain APIs for internal and cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with DevOps for deployment pipelines across AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Troubleshoot complex distributed system issues and production performance.
• Use Git workflows and CI/CD for reliable deployments.
• Translate requirements into clean, scalable service architectures.
• Analyze and debug distributed system issues involving networking and concurrency.
• Ensure backend services integrate with infrastructure and networking layers.
