Job summary

Nominal is building a backend platform to ingest and query multi-modal hardware data at scale. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will design distributed systems, storage engines, and pipelines that power telemetry and validation across cloud, on-prem, and air-gapped environments.

You will own critical backend components end to end, partner with product and infrastructure teams, and help shape the system for high throughput and strong consistency in production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building distributed systems with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Java and long-lived backend services.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and production tooling.
• Experience with storage/analytics engines and streaming data tech.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve distributed systems that ingest, process, and persist telemetry data.
• Design storage and indexing strategies for time-series datasets with performance needs.
• Collaborate to solve hard domain problems for cutting-edge hardware teams.
