Antithesis in Vienna, VA is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate core platform systems end-to-end. You will work across raw binary formats, storage layers, and scalable APIs, ensuring correctness and performance across the stack.

You will contribute to Pangolin, our purpose-built database, and own reliability from design through incident response, mentoring peers and optimizing performance.

Formación

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Rust is a strong preference.
• Experience building APIs, services, or data-intensive backend systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems: consistency, fault tolerance, replication, observability.
• Strong fundamentals — correctness, test coverage, and well-designed abstractions.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate core platform systems including backend infrastructure, data processing pipelines, storage layers, and scalable APIs and interfaces.
• Contribute to Pangolin, our purpose-built database.
• Build and evolve foundational platform primitives such as data access layers and authorization frameworks.
• Own reliability end-to-end — from system design to incident response with on-call rotation.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and mentor engineers.
