Job summary

Affir is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, build and scale relational and distributed SQL databases. You will automate provisioning, backups, failover, and upgrades across multi-tenant clusters on Kubernetes.

You will own the networking stack to storage and tune for latency and resilience, while delivering on quarterly goals and guiding teammates through ambiguous problems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in backend systems.
• Experience deploying large-scale databases in production.
• Expertise with MySQL, TiDB, Postgres or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate control plane for large-scale distributed SQL databases.
• Design zero-downtime migrations across multi-tenant clusters.
• Own networking stack between services and storage on Kubernetes.
• Deliver quarterly team goals and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics across the lifecycle.
• Identify issues and drive cross-functional solutions.
