Affir is a remote-first company delivering honest financial products with clear pay options. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale distributed SQL databases, drive zero-downtime migrations, and own Kubernetes-based control planes.

Formación

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale (Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Terraform, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with large-scale database deployments.
• Expertise in distributed databases (MySQL, TiDB, Postgres, Spanner, Vitess, CockroachDB).
• SQL tuning and performance optimization techniques.
• Experience with zero-downtime migrations and upgrades in production.
• Ability to design clean, extensible architectures and write high-quality code.
• Strong collaboration and communication across global teams.

Responsabilidades

• Build and operate the control plane for large-scale distributed SQL databases.
• Design and execute zero-downtime migrations across multi-tenant clusters.
• Own the networking stack connecting services to storage on Kubernetes.
• Deliver quarterly team objectives and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics during development lifecycle.
• Proactively identify and solve project, process, or technical issues.
• Monitor and maintain reliability, metrics and on-call operations.
• Set and elevate code quality and design standards across the team.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to talent development.
