Job summary

TheGuarantors, a fintech leader in renter underwriting, seeks a Senior Software Engineer in NYC hybrid, driving backend services and modernizing the platform with microservices. You will own features end-to-end and mentor fellows while collaborating with product, QA, and design teams.

Requirements include 5+ years of backend experience, proficiency in Node.js/NestJS/TypeScript/Go, and strong API and data-model skills. Bachelor’s in CS or equivalent; MS preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend focus.
• Experience with Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, Go in production, including designing and operating APIs (REST/GraphQL) and relational data models (PostgreSQL).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and micro-service architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own a slice of the product end-to-end — from requirements through development, QA, and production.
• Build and extend backend services and React frontends within a micro-service architecture with accuracy and timeliness.
• Analyze, review, or maintain services, APIs, and data models to support business needs.
• Partner with product managers, QA, designers, and engineers across teams to support shared priorities and cross-team projects.
• Communicate updates, risks, blockers, and recommendations clearly and proactively.
